Gary A. Presswood and his wife, Kirby, sold their five-bedroom, 6.5 bath at 2000 Strada Mia in Las Vegas for $1.85 million to David and Alexis Borden on Feb. 1.

The Presswoods paid $1.4 million for the home in Aug. 2004.

The 6,331 square foot home was built in 1992.

Mr. Presswood is the president of Gary A. Presswood & Associates, an engineering firm in Las Vegas. He founded the firm in 1991 and primarily serves as a forensic consultant and expert witness to attorneys, insurance companies and land developers. He also provides technical analysis for vehicle accident and construction related accidents and issues.

He previously served as an engineer and the deputy director of public works for the City of Las Vegas (1987-92) and with engineering firm Reynolds, Smith & Hills in Jacksonville, Fla. He also spent nine years with the City of Vernon in Mt. Vernon, Ill.

He earned his master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas ('92) and his bachelor's from Southern Illinois University ('70).

He is also a musician, performing under the name Doc Rock.

Mrs. Presswood is a real estate agent with Prudential in Las Vegas.

Home sales in Las Vegas increased almost 45 percent through December 2007 versus the same period in 2006. The median sales price though dropped more than eight percent, from the previous $305,000 to $280,000.
