Poker player spends $1M in Vegas

William L. Edler bought a four-bedroom, 3.5 bath home at 2105 Lookout Point Circle in Las Vegas from Mark and Mika Berry for $1 million on July 2.
The Berrys bought the property for $1.15 million in Feb. 2007. The 3,663-square-foot house, which was built in 1988, is in the Canyon Gate Country Club.
Edler is a professional poker player from Las Vegas. In 2008, he won $796,237 at the Gulf Coast Poker Championship, bringing his total live tournament earnings to more than $3 million.
The year 2007 was a successful year for Edler, having won the $5,000 buy-in shorthand No-Limit hold 'em tournament at the World Series of Poker, the inaugural $10,000 buy-in Heads-Up Poker Championship in Compton, Calif., and the $747,615 at the Gulf Coast Poker Championship, which was his first World Poker Tour title.
He earned his J.D. from the University of California-Berkeley.
Home sales in
Las Vegas are up four percent in 2008 versus sales in 2007. The median sales price however, has dropped from $275,000 to $230,000 so far this year.
