KISS rocker Paul Stanley buys in Palms Place

Rock and roll star Paul Stanley bought a two-bedroom, two-bath condo at 4381 Flamingo Road in Paradise for $3.29 million from TAS Properties on Aug. 15.

Unit #5708 is one of 599 in the 47-story Palms Place development, which was built in 2007.

Stanley, 56, is best known as the lead singer and the principal songwriter for the long-running rock and roll group Kiss. With a career dating back to the band's inception in 1972, Stanley penned some of the group's biggest hits during its glory days in the 1970s, including Rock and Roll All Nite, Detroit Rock City and Hard Luck Woman.

Although the band's album sales never quite matched those of some of their rock contemporaries, the band developed a reputation its legendary Kiss Army following on the strength of their live performances. Stanley's on-stage persona, Starchild, is one of the makeup-clad quartet's most identifiable figures, and Stanley's guitar-smashing finales add a signature element to the group's concert performances.

The band has two gold-selling singles to its credit: the 1976 hit Beth, written by drummer Peter Criss, and I Was Made for Lovin' You, co-written by Stanley in 1979.

Stanley detoured onto a brief solo career in 1988 and again in 2006, but has been the face of the band for three and half decades. The band's latest tour, Kiss Alive/35, stopped in Las Vegas in August.

Other tenants in the Palms Place development include racing legends Mario and Michael Andretti, pop singer Jessica Simpson and former UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian.

Condo sales in Paradise dropped nearly 33 percent in 2007 versus sales in 2006. The median sales price went up though from $375,000 to $512,000.
