Poker pros sell Turnberry Towers at Paradise condo

Mr. Alspach
Daniel L. Alspach and Joanne Liu sold a two-bedroom, two-bath condo at 322 Karen Ave. in Winchester's Turnberry Towers at Paradise to LFRP Preservation for $700,000 on Sept. 30.
Alspach paid $890,000 for the 1,657-square-foot Unit #208 in August 2007.
Turnberry Towers at Paradise was built in 2006.
Alspach is formerly the
chairman and chief executive officer of Orincon Corp. International, a San Diego, Calif.-based information technology company he co-founded in 1973. He retired in 2003 when the company was acquired by Lockheed-Martin.
He also served as a professor of engineering at the University of California, San Diego.
He
received both his B.S. and M.S. in physics from the University of Washington and his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego.
Alspach is currently a
professional poker player. His total winnings now amount to more than $1.115 million.
Liu is also a poker pro with 10 World Series of Poker cash placements and six on the World Poker Tour.
She previously worked as an engineer at Space Systems/Loral in Palo Alto, Calif.
She graduated from Ming Chuan College in China. She holds a master's degree in computer science from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.
Alspach and Liu are the founders of the Daniel L. Alspach Endowed Chair in Dynamic Systems and Controls at the Jacobs School of Engineering/Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UCSD.
There have been 558 sales in
Winchester County thus far in 2008. The median sales price is at $292,500 so far this year.
