Mortgage broker buys in Lower Kyle Canyon

Conway C. Grayson, Robert J. Smeath and others bought a property in 11500 Inverter Lane in Las Vegas' Lower Kyle Canyon from National Title Co., for $700,000 on Oct. 14.

Mr. Grayson has owned a one-man mortgage brokerage firm, Shibumi, in Wickenburg, Ariz., which he started operating in the mid-1980s.

Previously, he worked for 15 years at the Atomic Energy Commission, where he became division director. Before that, he had a one-year stint at the J. Walter Thompson ad agency in New York.

He holds an M.B.A. from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.

Mr. Smeath is registered accountant, who has worked for Kafoury Armstring & Co., in Reno.

There have been 16,264 sales in Las Vegas in 2008, with a median sales price of $210,000.
