National Sheriff's Association director buys in Mesquite

Aaron D. Kennard and Sandra Kennard bought a two-bedroom, two-bath at 425 Via Ventana Dr. in Mesquite from Gail Gleason-Means for $305,000 on March 12.

Means paid $269,000 for the property in July 2004. The 1,831-square-foot home was built in 2001.

Mr. Kennard is the executive director for the National Sheriffâ€™s Association in Alexandria, Va. He has been on the group's board of directors for over 14 years.

He previously spent 20 years with the Salt Lake City Police Department, where he ultimately served as captain and as county sheriff for four terms. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Weber State University and Salt Lake Community College.

He received a bachelorâ€™s degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Utah and a masterâ€™s degree in public administration from Brigham Young University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the FBI National Executive Institute.

There were 476 sales in Mesquite in 2008, with a median price of $190,500.
