Andre Agassi bought a four-bedroom, four-bath home at 4944 Spanish Heights Dr. in Spring Valley CDP from Tropicana Durango, Ltd., for $90,000 on Sept. 29, 1992.
Agassi is an American professional tennis player and the 1992 Wimbledon champion. Prior to his breakthrough at Wimbledon, the 22-year-old reached the finals of the 1990 U.S. Open as well as the finals of the 1990 and 1991 French Open.
He turned pro in 1986 at the age of 16, and by the end of 1988 he had compiled seven tournament victories and was the No. 3 ranked player in the world. Both the ATP and Tennis magazine named Agassi the Most Improved Player of the Year for 1988. In Dec. 2008 he became the fastest player to reach $2 million in career prize money.
Agassi has garnered a rebel image in the tennis world, boasting long hair, an earring and often wearing colorful clothing. He refused to play at Wimbledon from 1988-1990 because of the event's traditionalism. Outside of tennis, he is a spokesman for Canon's "Rebel" camera.
