David Boies and Mary McInnis Boies bought a two-bedroom, two-bath condo at 200 Hoover Ave. in Las Vegas from Newport Lofts Marketing for $386,900 on Oct. 28.

The 2,539-square-foot condo Unit# 2110 is in the Newport Lofts, a luxury high-rise condo building at the corner of Casino Center Boulevard and Hoover Avenue in Central Las Vegas.

Mr. Boies is the founder and chairman of the Armonk, N.Y. law firm Boies, Schiller & Flexner. He is probably best known for serving as lead counsel for former Vice President Al Gore in connection with the litigation involved with the 2000 presidential election. He was portrayed by actor Ed Begley, Jr., in the 2008 Emmy-winning HBO docudrama "Recount," which told the story of Gore's legal action taken against the infamous recount in Florida.

He has written books and taught courses at the New York University School of Law and Yeshiva University Cardozo School of Law. He earned his B.S. from Northwestern University, his LL.B. from Yale Law School and his LL.M. from the NYU School of Law.

Mrs. Boies is managing partner at Boies & McInnis, and the founder and CEO of Mary Boies Software Inc., a publisher of educational software.

She served as assistant director of the White House Domestic Policy Staff during the Carter Administration and general counsel for the Civil Aeronautics Board. Earlier in her career, she was vice president with CBS, Inc.

She received a B.A. in English at the University of California-Berkeley in 1971 and a J.D. from the University of Washington in 1975.

The Newport Lofts, which was built in 2006, has 168 units on 24 floors.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 3,223 condo sales in Las Vegas during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $60,000.
